Dudley has a Total Communication Strategy approved by the Learning Disability Partnership Board
What is Total Communication?
Total Communication is how we get a message across in a good clear way
This might include speech, signs, gestures, body language, facial expressions, pictures, objects, symbols, electronic aids, touch or all of these
It is not just about speaking or writing
It is about the best way to communicate with a person
Dudley’s Total Communication Strategy
The Total Communication Strategy is a multi-agency plan for Dudley that tells us how best to support people with learning disabilities to communicate
The strategy is based on Communication Standards
