As an employer you may have concerns about employing a person with a learning disability or autism. Staff from Employment Plus can support the person and the employer throughout the recruitment process

• We can support the person in the workplace and offer support to their supervisor or manager
• When the person is settled in their workplace, monitoring, training support and advice will still be available
• The work needs to be appropriate for the skills of the person
• There are certain jobs that a person with a learning disability or autism is particularly suited to for example, routine / repetitive tasks are more suitable
• Job Carving is a process of looking at the tasks within a job role and matching them to an individual’s skills and abilities. It provides a flexible way of managing a workforce and allows managers to utilise their employee’s skills in the most productive way. More importantly it enables people with a disability to make a valuable contribution to the work force
• Ideally a job would be for 16 hours a week. This means the person is financially better off than on benefits. However some job seekers would like to work just a few hours a week.
