Living Well, Feeling Safe – Help for you at home
A council service called ‘Living well, feeling safe’ offers help to keep you living independently at home
Someone will visit you at home and talk to you about different gadgets, equipment or services that could help you feel safer and happier at home
That person will then sort the gadgets, equipment or services you need out for you
Help at home could include:
Home safety or security equipment – things like door locks, window locks, door chains, key safes or door intercoms
Telecare – this is the name given to all sorts of gadgets that help people stay independant and safe. Some of these gadgets are worn and some are not. They include pendant alarms (worn around your neck), falls sensors (worn on your waistband or wrist) and medicine reminder alarms
All the gadgets are linked to an all day, all night call centre. The people in the call centre can help you when your telecare alarm goes off
Home adaptations – help with changing your home so it suits your needs better like stair lifts, wet rooms
Support with getting out and enjoying life – help getting out of the house, meeting people or enjoying hobbies
Support to get healthy and fit – health trainers can help you with eating a healthier diet and exercising and getting fit
