The Accommodation Support Team

The Accommodation Support Team can give you advice and support to help you live the life you want

Some people need a lot of support like someone with them all the time

Other people, who have learned to do a lot for themselves, only need a little help

The support might be just for you, or staff might support other people who live with you

Some people get support by being part of a network where people help each other

There are different places you can live

These can include:
– Living with your family
– Renting a flat or house on your own
– Sharing a rented flat or house with one or two other people
– Buying a flat or home of your own. This might be through a “Shared Ownership” scheme
– Living in a residential care home
– Living with another family.  This can be through an “Adult Placement Scheme”
– Living in a housing development where help is provided to you or other people

Shared Lives Service

The Shared Lives service provides care and support for adults with learning disabilities who meet the Local Authority Access Criteria

This is where host carers, who are ordinary families provide Respite Care.  This can be long term family accommodation or for just a few hours, over night or for short breaks

Each individual is carefully matched to a family

All carers are assessed, approved and fully regulated by the Care Quality Commission

Costs vary depending on the needs of the individual
